When you're just getting started, you have to do the research if you're going to find out what interests you and what interests other people. Sure, you can Google things and use Wikipedia to learn a lot. But there are some other tools that will help too, so I encourage you to check them out.

Website Building Tools

Site Build It is my site builder of choice (it's how I built this site & 5 others) because it provides value-added services and tools. Yes, you can build websites with it, but you can also build a business.

Wordpress is a blogging platform, but many people these days use Wordpress as a content management system too. So, it's one possibility to consider as a site builder.

Coffee Cup is for people who have the skills or the desire to work directly with HTML coding. This is my favorite HTML editor and although it's not free, they do offer free trials. If you do decide to buy, it's very reasonably priced.

XSitePro is kind of a mix between WordPress, in terms of ease of use, and Coffee Cup, in terms of powerful features. Unfortunately it IS a bit pricey, at $197, but you can use it over and over.
